The opening track ‘Prelude: Signal Return’ is a fast paced tone setting track. It is almost entirely instrumental save for the ever present chant of “Tiger Army Never Die”. The track has numerous layers of instrumentation, almost dominating preceding is the frenetic stand-up bass work of Jeff Roffredo but it is still possible to hear the interwoven space noises in the background which are slightly reminiscent of euro disco.

Track 2 ‘Hotprowl’ is fast paced with enough “Heh” moments to satisfy even the most ardent Ramones fanatic. Another stand out track is number 4. ‘Forever Fades Away’, the vocals rise and soar Nick 13 is anthemic in his affirmation of deep enduring love. The listener is left in no doubt that love is the thread which runs throughout both this album and all previous Tiger Army releases.

I never thought it would be possible to describe the music genre of psychobilly as beautiful but Tiger Army make it achingly so. This is due to the amazing complexity of the musical arrangements and the echo vocals courtesy of the awesome talent of vocalist Nick 13. The lyrics throughout the entire album are a mesmerising blend of romance and fantasy. This mix is best seen in the lyrics to track 8. ‘As the Cold Rain Falls’, “tonight I remember what it was like to hear the rain song when you were mine”.

It is to their credit that Tiger Army have stayed true to their roots and remained where many of their fans would argue they truly belong, within the Hell Cat Records family.
With ‘Music from Regions Beyond’ Tiger Army have yet again set the standard for aspiring Psychobilly/Punk bands. Their current stint on the Vans Warped Tour in the US should gain them a whole new army of fans to join in the chant of “Tiger Army Never Die”. I look forward to many more Tiger Army records where they will hopefully continue to develop their unique style.
