The Jonas Brothers - 17th July 2008 - Sleep Train Pavilion, Concord CA

The Jonas Brothers hit the stage to deafening screams and did not disappoint the sold out crowd. The three brothers have catapulted to superstardom in the past year. Between sugary hooks and rock melodies the three pop stars have sold millions of albums and now, on their tour, are performing to sold out venues nightly.

Demi Lovato, of Camp Rock fame, opened the show. The 15- year-old rocked the stage and shows promise beyond her Disney Channel notoriety. Her set included “This Is Me,” and “Who Will I Be.” If Lovato can lose the Disney Channel stigma she may have the ability to cross over and sell a lot of albums. The music was catchy and although Lovato is marketing herself to a younger audience, she still cranked up the volume towards the end of her set. Look for Lovato to burst out of the Disney musical scene and onto the rock scene in the next few years.

The Jonas Brothers finally emerged to huge screams. Really, the band could have stood there and done nothing for 90 minutes and the crowd reaction wouldn’t have changed. Every move the brothers made elicited deafening screams from the 8000 fans in attendance. The stage they brought with them was elaborate and something was always going on behind the band. Whether it was fire bursting from below the stage or all three of The Jonas’s being lifted 30 feet above the crowd the show was visually stimulating to say the least. The tour’s producers obviously wanted no lulls in the action and the brothers do their part through the duration of the set running up and down ramps and doing back flips on the catwalk.

They ran through all of the hits in the 90 minute set including “Burnin’ Up,” and “When You Look Me In The Eyes.” There is no denying that all three of the Jonas’s have tremendous musical talent. Although Kevin Jonas can carry a tune, his voice is by no means overpowering but the catchy songs do make up for it. The Jonas’s put on an entertaining live show, but you can’t help but wonder how long the stardom will last for this pop sensation.
