After their first studio release in 2009, Southampton based metal band Below Defect are ready to move onwards and upwards with their latest single Dying Revolution.

Dying Revolution is not as professionally sounding and polished as it could be, but that kind of works in its favour as it holds the raw jagged edge that every metal track needs. The band have labelled their sound as ‘thrash melodic metal-core’ or ‘thrash metal with bare harmonies,’ but whatever genre you choose to label it, there’s no escaping the fact that it is bone crunching and grinding metal at its best.

Perhaps it’s just the fact that it’s been played through a Myspace player, but it feels like the track needs a little something more; it needs to pack a little more of a punch, but with the right production values we think it could achieve this. The instrumental within the track is pretty soothing and great for a bit of a rest from the head banging. It’s got all the right hooks and the right amount of catchiness and for a band that haven’t been around very long at all, Dying Revolution is a great accomplishment and we look forward to hearing what the band will offer us in the future.
