It’s been a tough old journey for British singer/songwriter Matt Hales; he had been on the brink of quitting the music business for a life of teaching, until a decision to move to L.A forced inspiration onto him and led him to start writing again.

After penning three songs with pop singer Leona Lewis, he decided to revisit his old friend, Aqualung, and worked on new material with his wife and brother. The outcome is revealed in the sixth studio album ‘Magnetic North,’ released on July 5th. The first single taken from the album is ‘Fingertip.’

Matt’s new lease of life and inspiration is glaringly obvious throughout this track. It’s quaint and fragile, yet it bounces around with a happy-go-lucky flair and doesn’t seem to have a care in the world. It’s refreshingly uplifting and the strutting piano weaving through the track gives it an extra burst of life.

Matt made a great decision in not turning his back on the music industry and if this single is anything to go by, 'Magnetic North' will be extremely well recieved.
