Tracklisting
1. Who's Throwing Rocks
2. Subterranean Death Clash
Branded 'Schizophrenic rock,' this Portsmouth based rock group have already gone through the devastation of losing a band member and thats before even releasing a debut!
Munroe Effect have already played a string of dates all across the UK supporting the likes of Oceansize, Kill Kenada and Reuben, but one gig in particular led the band to sign with Function records. The band must have put on a mindblowing show despite the fact that there was nobody in the audience apart from this one man. He must have been impressed as he decided to offer them a deal which included them releasing two singles and an album through his label.
While the band were on the brink of signing a deal, founding member James Teale decided to quit the band for personal reasons but Munroe Effect managed to bounce back and enlisted the help of close friend Ben Hogan. The band were then able to successfully record their double a-side debut single 'Who's Throwing Rocks / Subterranean Death Clash'
Being from Portsmouth myself, I was keen to give Munroe Effect a listen and I was impressed by what I heard.
'Who's Throwing Rocks,' is a superbly catchy and thunderous track, the guitars, drums and bass all come crashing together at exactly the right moments causing the listener to momentarily bang their head in time.
The track would be a short 3 minutes long had the band not thrown together every noise they could possibly make with their instruments to create a frenzy of an ending to the song.
'Subterranean Death Clash' has a purely terrifying riff of an introduction which slowly softens into a more ballad sounding track, untill, with great surprise, a rocking bridge makes an apperance followed by a heavy chorus and thrashing instruments and vocals. Again the ending of the track is an impressive burst of energy which gives the listener a last chance to rock out.
'Who's Throwing Rocks / Subterranean Death Clash' is out on February 11th 2008 on 7" Vinyl and Digital Download. Munroe Effect will also be touring throughout the UK through February and March promoting their debut release so make sure you catch them!
