After an all too long break since the last Jimmy Eat World record in 2004, the four piece rock band are back with perhaps not their greatest record to date but still a high contender. ‘Chase this light’ is full of hope; for the future, for other people and for the band’s career as they have been crafting their own brand of alternative music into something they can define as their own and not only that, something great. Big Casino is the opener and quite joyfully the first single too and if there is any better way that they could have opened the record, I’d like to hear it cause it just screams ‘come and listen’. They are honest and over flow with warmth in that honesty as they tell us about wanting to read smart books, reaching goals and all in all, just being normal. This is why their fan base is so strong; because they’ve never changed from being the ‘outsiders’ and are equals to their fans. They may have peaked with music TV hits such as ‘Bleed American’ and ‘The Middle’ but they are by no means down and out for the count. Jimmy Eat World are now making music along side bands that were inspired to play by them in the first place.

These are guys you can thank for the countless rock and indie bands that are sprawled out on the charts today and Jimmy Eat World can still teach them a few things as on ‘Chase This Light’ they show the kids how it should be done.
