Call It A Day – Your Name In Lights EP

Unsigned foursome from Bolton, Call It A Day’s first release is the 'Your Name In Lights' EP, a four-track featuring two singles and two demos.

The first track, 'Plan B', opens the EP with a bang. This is three-and-a-bit minutes of fresh pop-punk with undercurrents of Q.O.T.S.A-esque rock. “What did they say to you last night? I don’t remember” moans Nicky Wan and Dave Lawson as the song draws to it’s close and leads into a demo version of 22:50.

“Dear ladies and gentlemen, I’m having one of those moments…”

The drums and vocals are unrefined and raw but the song still gives the feeling of completion and will hopefully be better recorded for a future album. The song is punctuated by a punchy-pausey breakdown before a vocals-driven ending.

Title track 'Your Name In Lights' injects some more energy into the proceedings, along with an anthemic chorus before the final track, an in-studio live recording of 'Plan A' rounds off the EP. Slamming snares and muffled guitars are the only problems, but the chorus makes up for it.

Overall this EP shows much potential but a more refined sound is required to challenge for the title in this year’s Bolton School Battle of the Bands.
