You were previously an actress, appearing in films such as 28 Days Later and Liam; so how did you first get involved in the music industry?
I was at an Eighties Matchbox b-line Disaster gig in Fortress studios, London, when Seve Ludwin came up and asked if I would be interested in writing with him. I agreed (pretended I could sing) and it went from there.
Are you still doing any acting?
I'm not acting at the moment, I'm just enjoying making music.
How did the name 'Betty Curse' come about? (Betty Curse's real name is Megan Burns)
From my love of Bettie Page and The Damned. We wanted a Marilyn Manson-y band name, so I could have a personna but it is also my bands name. If you get me?
Can you describe your sound for people who haven't listened to your music before?
It' funeral pop. Ha ha, a celebration of love and death, often the celebration of the death of a lover... it's pop music with a kick.
Are there any bands/artists that help inspire your own music?
I don't write the music, but lyrically I'm inspired by Robert Smith, the GoGos and Nick Cave.
What was the first gig you ever went to?
That would be Leeds festival in 2000.
What can fans expect from a Betty Curse live show?
Some good old fashioned entertainment.
What bands are you listening to at the moment?
I've been on a Nirvana trip for the past week. It happens every now and then, I won't listen to them properly for like a year, then I find my love for them again and listen non stop for two months. I'm also listening to Blackwire and Neils Children.
What's coming up for you, music-wise in 2007?
We have a single out early 2007, I'm just looking at video ideas and we should be playing some shows and I also think we have a physical album release.
Betty Curse's debut album 'Hear Lies' is out on iTunes!
